Dearest Maria and Searatoa, so very very soad for you and for cde Oupa. So hoped he would get better. An absolute tragedy. I’m so glad you convened that seminar and launch a few weeks back. You must be feeling lost. Thank you for sharing Oupa with movements for decades. It’s a massive loss to activism and movement building but you will both carry his spear. It was always so lovely to see the love that Oupa as a serious intellectual had for both of you. You were really a fabulous trio and you will always be. Very much love.

A Maori saying for cde Oupa: “Kua hinga te totara I te wao nui a Tane. A giant Totara has fallen. (A mighty tree of great importance has fallen.)
