JBF 2020 PANEL DISCUSSION BEYOND COVID 19: TRANSFORMATION AND MOVEMENT BUILDING IN SOUTH AFRICA AND THE WORLD
PANEL DISCUSSION AND BOOK LAUNCH
Date and Time: Sunday, 29th November 2020, 3.00 – 5.00pm
Venue: Zoom and Facebook LIVE
Zoom Registration Link
Covid 19 has revealed the deep fault lines and social inequality in South Africa and the world. More especially, the pandemic and the ensuing lockdown has demonstrated the crisis of capitalism, the devastation of the planet and its inability to provide for the basic needs of the world’s people in a time of dire need – food security, healthcare, housing, water and so forth. At the same time, popular resistance to governments’ inadequate responses has been uneven and/or non-existent, reflecting the weaknesses within movements all over the world. The Black Lives Matter movement in the US has confirmed the importance and possibilities of building broad based democratic movements.
Join Khanya College at the Jozi Book Fair as we host international panelists to discuss the possibilities and lessons for movement building and transformation beyond Covid19.
This session will also include a Book Launch on the live of Tshepo Matoko, the former secretary of the Gauteng Community Healthcare Workers Forum, called:
Tshepo Matoko: A leader of a new type
