Sakha Kids held an event on 21 September 2024, in the Chiawelo community hall. Although the weather was bad, it did not stop the children coming in numbers to watch and performances. It was a day to remember. The children were very happy, the likes of Shell garage, just next to Power Park, ensured that the young ones had something to eat throughout the day which was highlyappreciated by Ms Babongile Lynette.

The event host and the chairperson of Sakha Kids, the City of Joburg, also played a big part in making sure that the children had transport to the venue and back home. They provided music and other important things that were needed for the day.

The Department of Sports, Arts and Culture attended the event helping to provide part of the lunch and other important goodies. Many organisations had beautiful performances embracing our culture diversity. Ms Babongile said that she is grateful for the support she received on the day and also that she would love for the organisation to continue growing and getting better.

The aim was to showcase the children’s talent and change the way people see art.

Tsakane Lubisi said that the event was amazing and she learned to not criticise other people’s cultures as we all differ in our own.

“I learnt many [things] as for embracing your culture and currently learning more languages…. The event was great and professional”, said Mimi Dlangamadla.

The performance was about embracing our culture and learning from others.
