Kgaogelo Leso (23) is an activist, born in September 1998, in Daveyton Ekurhuleni. I became an activist when I joined Equal Education Movement, as an Equaliser, because I saw the need to try and eradicate the inequality gap between township and Model C schools. I previously worked at the South African National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (SANCA) and became a certified Youth Against Drug Abuse (YADA) member.
After matric, I started Black Panda Creatives Clan. It focuses on assisting youth from poor communities to realise their art, through modelling, music, drawing etc. I always had a dream of becoming an econometrist but due to funds ended up doing marketing in a fly-by-night college and couldn’t continue with it. I later joined Khanya College and learned more about activism and politics. I am currently a junior ICT & media officer at Khanya College.
