Download PDFNew Bronville is a non-governmental organisation based in the Bronville community at Welkom, Free State. It was formed in 2008 by unemployed youth to help promote youth empowerment and community development.
The organisation has a chairperson, a vice chairperson, a secretary, a deputy secretary, and a treasurer. There is an Elective AGM meeting every four years to elect the management structure, and the management is held accountable according to the policies of the constitution and the code of conduct.
They initiated a Gender-Based Violence Campaign, the MTV SHUGA-peer education Programme, a drug intervention program, a community safety initiative with Community Police Forum (CPF), sports development, employment preparation (creating CVs), and facilitating job placement. These are all youth-focused programmes which aim to empower youth to participate in developing the community.
New Bronville works with the Department of Social Development, Woman of Age, the Matjhabeng Victim Empowerment Forum, Voice of Hope, Helping Hands, Mom’s Memories, and the 100-day GBV National Strategic Plan to achieve its objective. To start training for the members, they have cooperated with National Development Agency and Tossa College. Otherwise, members learn valuable skills through their voluntary work.
