Simunye Workers Forum (SWF) was established in 2015 by William Gundwane. It is situated in Germiston under the offices of the Casual Workers Advice Office (CWAO). SWF was formed to respond to the exploitation of workers and aims to assist workers with legal cases. It was also formed to end labour brokers/temporary Employment Services.
SWF organises and mobilise casual and precarious workers as well as businesses. Their structure includes board members, a legal team and an education team to educate workers about their rights.
SWF has participated in several campaigns such as the CCMA campaign which started in February 2021. The CCMA campaign was responding to the government’s new regulations to close walk-ins and use online facilities. The SWF believed that CCMA being online would be challenging for the working-class communities that don’t have access to the internet and for those who are not computer literate.
SWF is affiliated with organisations such as Khanya College and CWAO. It aims to promote the interests of all employees and enhance efficiency in the working place.
