Download PDFBench Marks Foundation was established in 2002, it operates in South Africa and the rest of the African continent. It is a non-profit organisation that is committed to social and economic justice. The organisation was founded by the churches in 2001 to promote a culture of ethical investments in the churches and faith communities and to monitor multinational corporations operating in Southern Africa and the rest of the African continent, to ensure that they meet minimum social, environmental, and economic standards; to promote an ethical and critical voice on what constitutes corporate social responsibility.
Bench Marks works with the Sekhukhune Environmental Justice Network (SEJN). They work together because they have the same vision. They were all eager to restore environmental and social justice. The Bench Marks Foundation trained the SEJN members in activism and community monitoring skills.
The organisation has the following structure: chairperson, deputy chairperson, director and portfolio manager, legal advisor and Board members.
