Review: Bud, not Buddy

Bud, Not Buddy is a children’s book written by Christopher Paul Curtis. It is a heartwarming story of a 10-year-old boy looking for his father.

Bud Caldwell is the main character of the book, staying with his mother up until she passed. He never knew his father. Embarking on a journey to look for him, he believes the man was a jazz musician because of the flyer his mother used to carry.

The moral of the story is about keeping our hopes and dreams alive.

The mother had never revealed Bud’s father’s identity to him, instead she always said he was too young to understand what happened to his father.

Bud was convinced that Calloway, a jazz musician, is his father. As Bud was moved from one orphanage home to another, he faced a lot of challenges and bad treatment, and because of that experience, he decided to run away and look for his father.
