Nobuhle Sera (23) from Rena Le Rona was born at Dobsonville Gardens, she currently lives in Diepkloof. When she moved to Diepkloof, she realised her full potential as an activist. Sera always had a passion for reading, from Grade 3 until high school she ran book clubs and poetry sessions. Sera works as a caregiver at Rena Le Lona, which has influenced her decision to be an activist. She works mainly with vulnerable children and believes in healing children through art.
Sera’s work comes with challenges, as organisations do not recognise the women’s voices and their safety is not prioritised, especially when they do door-to-door campaigns. What keeps her motivated is the difference she brings to the lives of the children that she works with. She builds herself as an activist through attending workshops at Khanya College.
“The road to victory is long but we need to keep in mind that we are shaping the future for the next generation” she concluded.
