On 10 June 2023, a worker from Sitrusrand BoerderyIn Kirkwood, Eastern Cape got injured at work. She was a packer and on the day she slipped and fell, her hand got stuck in a machine. The machine cut her fingers on her right hand. She was badly injured and lost a lot of blood. The employer took her to the hospital where She got help, but the sad part is that she lost her finger and she was in denial about what happened. After a few weeks, She was discharged and tried to get compensation. Until today she has not received any compensation, not a single cent. This clearly shows workplaces do not care about their employees. They only care about themselves and making profits. As the working class, how can this worker afford to pay for a lawyer to fight the big company?
