Download PDFThe MEC for Health in the North West Province, Madoda Sambatha said on a community radio station recently that they have an agreement with both the Public Health and Social Development Sectorial Bargaining Council (PHSDSC) and the Department of Health (DoH) to give CHWs uniform. The notice stated that the DoH have already tendered the contract for these uniforms.
But we as CHWs have only received uniforms in 2016. We don’t know what happened to the uniforms or the tender money from 2017 to 2020. It has been four years now and we still haven’t received any uniforms, but the DoH wants us to wear uniforms at the facilities. It is as though they have forgotten that they have not supplied us with the uniforms.
The DoH does not care about CHWs, they only care about the health report statistics that we as CHWs do for them.
