Nokuthula Mamana (32) lives in Zwide location in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. She went to school at Ndzondelelo High School where she completed Grade 11, she did not complete Grade 12. She lives with her mother, brother, and son. Mamana is an activist and works for 2 organisations which are the Water Crisis Committee and Lean on Me. They deal with empowering the boy child and mostly deal with environmental issues. The Water Crisis Committee has come across many challenges, including when government officials were billing people high amounts for water, and the community ended up starting a picket. Mamana says one of the challenges they face as an organisation is that some people do not believe in what they are trying to do and are not taken seriously. She believes that women are strong, and they can stand for anything. The message she would like to give other activists is that believe in yourself and be consistent.
