Sisonke Revolutionary Movement is a community organisation used as a vehicle to create change for the working class in Orange Farm. This organisation was formed on 4 November 2017 by Lucky Twala, Agnes and Sibongile Mazibuko for the sole purpose of activism, social cohesion and community development.
This revolutionary movement was at the forefront of land displacement chaos in Orange Farm. During that struggle, the community movement-initiated fieldwork campaigns to gather data and the struggles facing the working class. This Exercise was to fight injustices hindering people from participating in a democratic country. The organisation emphasises the need for people to get land, quality affordable education and the recognition of the working class in our society.
Activists and founders of this movement highlight the importance of eradicating social issues such as unemployment at the grassroots level by putting women at the forefront of the revolution and finding sustainable solutions to problems facing women and children in townships.
The organisation is elevating the Working class’s tragic burden of confronting the task of creating a better South Africa. In Orange Farm, the movement offers daily computer courses, after-school learning programs and continuous mobilisation of community members and holding those in power accountable for their actions.
