Activist Profile: Irma Van Staden

Irma Van Staden (20) is from Witzenberg town in the Western Cape. She lives with her grandparents and five siblings. She is a dancer; her role model is David and Tamela Mann who inspire her to be a better person. When Covid-19 started in 2020, She saw how the people were struggling with the issues of unemployment and poverty in the community. She wanted to provide help to the community.

Irma belongs to WJC, they are ordinary members of the community, who have taken it upon themselves to help the community. The organisation is 80% women. Irma is one of the women who, every day dedicate her life to assisting the members of her community. According to Van Staden “The biggest challenge in Witzenberg Justice Coalition (WJC) is health issues that we are facing in the community and as an organisation, we try our best to resolve these issues.”
