On 25 April 2018 (Wednesday) workers around the country will strike to defend their rights. The proposed labour laws will take away the workers right to strike and enforce a slave wage of R3200. The government, the bosses and the big unions have agreed to these laws that will further make it difficult for workers to get what they deserve.
Why should Community Health Care Workers( CHWs ) join the strike?
Community Health Workers(CHWs) are excluded from the the National Minimum Wage Bill (NMW).TThe government continues to treat CHWs as volunteers although the court ruled that we are workers. The government does not want to make any commitment to employ CHWs permanent. Under the leadership of the Forum, CHWs have an arbitration on 2-5 May at the House of Movements. This arbitration, together with the strike on the 25th April, forms part of the many actions the Forum is taking to make CHWs permanent.
CHWs must take a stand and raise their issues at the national strike. All workers will join and support each other against the government and the bosses. Lets mobilize all CHWs to make their mark at the national strike!
The strike is protected!
The national strike is protected, no team leader or facility manager is allowed to stop CHWs from attending the strike. All workers are protected under section 77 of the Labour Relation Act.
ALL METRORAIL TRAINS WILL BE FREE FOR ALL WORKERS ATTENDING THE NATIONAL STRIKE!
