Despite numerous Gender Summits, policies, legislation, resolutions, marches and demonstrations, violence against women in South Africa is one of the many epidemics that continue to unfold in South Africa, and is stubbornly rooted in the very fabric of society. Non-governmental organisations and social movements, and even government, have not been immune to this scourge. Some feminists have argued for the need for new perspectives and solutions that include the need to feminise our social movements and our struggles.
