Residents of Tshwane, Region 7 is experiencing dry taps for 3 weeks due to the dysfunctional pump stations that run water to specific reservoirs. The most affected areas were Ekangala, Dark City, Rethabiseng, Zithobeni and the Bronkhorstspruit CBD.

The residents have to go far to fetch water and others were forced to fetch stream water since even the water tank trucks were not coming and the community has to make means of finding water to use for basic needs such as drinking and flushing toilets.

Schools in the area were also affected and children were forced to leave early from school since they do not have any sort of sanitation or drinking water. Other facilities such as clinics and surgeries were closed, community members were forced to travel about 35 kilometres to Mamelodi Hospital for some services such as (labour) giving birth.

The community started to strike and everything now went to stand still. Nothing comes in and nothing goes out only EMS vehicles were allowed to go around as these water crisis interruptions are still continuous
